GovernBest

Working with CEOs and Governing Boards to define and secure their preferred future

Overview

GovernBest is a seasoned group of diverse professionals with a record of achievement in corporate, governmental and non-profit environments. Our collective experience represents both sides of the governance equation; our common denominator is the evidence-based conviction that good governance adds value. Our perspective is best applied at the intersection of board and executive leadership...the place there are never "off the shelf" responses.

We draw instead upon our experience to co-create a fitting approach to a situation that is uniquely your own. While we clearly understand the current emphasis on ethics and compliance, our focus is on improving those precious few opportunities for directors to truly make a difference. Our fluency in governance prepares us to be resourceful in matters of oversight but our passion equips us best as partners in performance improvement. We believe that governance matters. Poor governance erodes trust and worth...often irreparably. Good governance ensures stewardship and mitigates risk; poor governance invites litigation and loss of control. Our methods, perspective and collective experience offers the prospect for a better tomorrow.

A former New York State Deputy Commissioner and Financial Services CEO, Mike is also a director and organizer of American Home Bank, serving on its audit and strategy committees, as well as a founding director of Hope International Capital Corporation, a socially responsible investment program that allocates funding across Hope's 110,000 microcredit clients in 11 of the poorest countries in the world. Mike has authored numerous articles and speaks frequently on strategy and governance.

Other GovernBest associates represent achievements in corporate, governmental and non-profit environments as well as experience on both sides of the governance equation. Our common denominator is the experience-based conviction that good governance adds value and our persistent focus on those limited arenas where that value is best expressed.
